A forest piece

A while ago I was asked to participate in an exhibition at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts in Inverness, Cape Breton. The theme was “The Forest”, the show opened on August 2nd and will run until August 23rd. I had no finished piece available but a design idea in mind, so I set to work and finished this piece within 2 weeks. Must be a new record.

Anyway, I was really pleased with the result. Here is “Crown, Branches, Root”. The lighting in the gallery wasn’t the best for taking pictures, so please excuse the bad quality picture.

And here a detail shot:

I worked with a stencil on hand dyed fabric and quilted it very densely. The border is also done with overlapping stencil images and all kinds of leaf shapes in different colors.

If you are in the area, please visit this wonderful exhibition, the Inverness County Centre for the Arts (http://www.invernessarts.com/) is always worth a visit!

Cheers,
Regina
